Who is Joris PLU?

I just love that quote of Picasso. I love to see children playing in the sand, painting, experimenting, trying things out -- things that older people have forgotten to do or are afraid to do. Life took them in other directions, showed them the real world. As a result, many people wish they could go back to those years, a time full of fun and artistic freedom.

Some of us find the artist within us again. Some of us have never lost it. I have never lost it and I feel lucky about that. I’ve always loved to create, be busy with colors, paint, draw, write, act. That’s why I love to call myself an artist. I feel that by being an artist I can make people happy and show things that bring them back to their inner self, maybe to their past. Art makes things happen.

Before I start to paint I have to feel the canvas, the brushes. Colors are very important to me. Painting is for me, putting my soul into every color I mix, into every brush stroke. A Belgian jazz musician and composer who has very poor eyesight  told me, “Thanks to your bright colors, I can see your paintings on my computer screen and when looking at them, it helps me compose new music. They make me dream and write.”  I must say, it felt great that my paintings could mean this much to him.

Painting for me is like life itself. It changes every day, all the time. It is so wonderful to see how my paintings evolve in time...just as my life does.

Joris PLU  is a Belgian-European artist living in Belgium near Brussels.

His work has been exhibited throughout Belgium, the Netherlands, England and now in the United States and in 2006, in the US & France.

His work includes acrylics, mixed media on canvas, photography and video.

In addition to his artistic training, Mr. Plu has studied Latin, French, English, Dutch and German.
